Is Metal Detecting allowed:  Yes, on coastal and inland sandy beaches only.


Excerpt from Park Regulations below..  You can find the regulations HERE:  


12.04: Rules of Conduct of DCR Properties — Generally

(12)  With the exception of coastal and inland sandy beaches, no person may use of offer for use metal detectors, except with permission from DCR Personnel, for the purposes of location lost personal property. 

Also found that it is prohibited in Watersheds. 

Wachusett Reservoir Watershed - Prohibited

Quabbin Reservoir Watershed - Prohibited

Ware River Watershed  - Prohibited
